AFMC 2012 MBBS Admissions and Entrance Exam Date

Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC), Pune, has invited applications for admission to the MBBS course. The MBBS course is to commence from 1st August 2012.

AFMC MBBS Entrance Examination 2012 prospectus and application form are available online from 6 February 2012 onwards. This year the application process has been kept entirely online and there is no sale of prospectus or application form at Post Offices.

The last date by which you can download and submit the application online is 5th March 2012. The candidates can also send the completed application by post, the last date of the receipt of the application at AFMC Pune is 12 March 2012(1700 h). The Entrance Exam for AFMC 2012 will be held on 6 May 2012 and the interview date will be declared only after the Entrance Exam.

AFMC 2012 MBBS Admissions

There are total of 130 seats for AFMC 2012 including a maximum of 25 seats for the girls. Ten seats are reserved for the Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe candidates. The selected candidates have a mandatory liability of serving in the Armed Forces Medical Service as Commissioned Officers on graduation for seven years. The candidates who are admitted to the college have to execute a bond to this effect for an amount of Rupees Fifteen Lacs at the time of joining the college. Students who are removed from the service liability due to any reason are liable to pay the bond money as per the norms laid down by the Govt. of India.

The course duration is of 4 Years and 6 Months and candidates upon the successful completion of the course are appointed as doctors in the Indian Armed Forces.
The basic eligibility criterion is a qualification in 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English. The candidates should have scored a minimum of 60% marks in PCB and should have scored at least 50% marks in English and in other science subjects. Candidates should also have passed in Mathematics in 10th standard.

AFMC MBBS 2012 is an objective type competitive entrance examination comprising a single paper in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, English, Logical Reasoning and Intelligence. The duration of the exam is 120 minutes. The paper would consist of 200 questions. There is negative marking of 0.25 for every wrong answer.The syllabus for the AFMC 2012 is based on the CBSE Pattern of class 11th and 12th standard. Questions in English, Logical Reasoning and Intelligence are also based on 12th standard.
